Are the workshops suitable for all?

 

The workshops have been designed for self-employed people and small businesses with just a few employees. The business owner who attends will be in the company of like-minded people who all want the same thing - a website they can be proud of and one that will grow their business.

What makes them ideal for self-employed people?

 

As a self-employed business owner, I know that I have to spend money on marketing if I want to grow my business. However, I also know that I need to be careful with how I spend it. The workshops are aimed at ticking the 3 boxes that are necessary when it comes to websites. 1. They have to be cost effective. 2. There needs to be help and advice in regard to creating the content. And 3. You need to be able to make changes and updates yourself without having to pay someone else to do it.

How much does it cost?

 

A Website Workshops course costs €795 (and there are a number of payment options available). For this investment, you will get a website that can feature a full range of content such as text, pictures, videos, blogs and social media links. In addition, the website will be responsive, meaning it will look great on phones and tablets as well as computers. At the workshops, you will learn all the skills you need to keep improving and adding to your site. You will learn to do this yourself and avoid having to pay someone else to do the work for you.

Where are the workshops held?

 

We set up the workshops in the business suites of local hotels. We try to choose locations that are convenient for those attending the course. The hotels tend to be located close to the M50 or in the centre of Dublin. However, other options are available.

How much computer knowledge do I need?

 

You will need to know your way around a keyboard. If you are comfortable with Microsoft Word or Excel, you won't have any problems. If, on the other hand, your computer skills are a little 'rusty', just let us know in advance. We can organise a refresher course for you with a local IT training company and you will be up to speed in no time.

Are there any other costs involved?

 

The platform we use to build websites is Wix.com. There are both 'free' and 'paid' options when it comes to hosting your website. We normally recommend one of the paid options (€99 per year) as they come with added features that we like - but it is completely up to you.

Why do you need a mobile friendly website?

 

Google is very keen that website owners make it easy for searchers (Google's customers) to read and interact with webpages on mobile devices, such as smart phones. They now check every site and give them a 'mobile friendly tag' if they pass the test. And your ranking in Google will suffer if you don't get a tag. 

 

Other evidence shows that visitors to a website will not interact if the text is too small, the links are difficult to pick out and there is a lot of sideways scrolling. 

 

At our workshops, we use platforms that give you an optimised mobile site at no extra cost i.e. two for the price of one! That way your potential customers can interact with your website no matter what device they are using.
