Website Workshops course outline
A website is essentially a sales tool. Its purpose is to sell 'stuff'. It is competing with hundreds, if not thousands, of other websites that have been built to try to sell similar stuff to yours. So, how do you stand out? The rules are quite simple: you lead with your best products or services and you talk directly to your ideal customers - in the way you know they will understand.
So, to begin, we send you a questionaire designed to get you thinking along these lines - to help you to focus on your best.
Before we begin the workshop process, we have a one to one planning meeting with you. At the meeting, we explore what you want to get from your website, what services or products you want to promote and who you are trying to reach. This leads to a plan of action for the workshops - what content we will need to write, what web pages we want to create and a timetable of actions that will ensure success.
We start the workshops by gathering and creating the content that will be featured on your website. Great website content is what turns visitors into customers! What ever it is that leads visitors to your site, it is the content that will convince them that they are in the right place and that your business is the one they need to talk to.
Most business owners find it difficult to write about themselves and their products and services. But they can talk about them until the cows come home! Knowing this, we have designed ways to create great text for your website - capturing all the colour and passion that you have for your business.
So don't worry about copywriting - we'll show you how!
There are many different 'self-build' website applications to choose from these days. They are designed to allow the non-techie to build - and maintain - their own site. This is really helpful when it comes to small business marketing where money is always tight.
If you know how to build your own website, how to add new content, and how to keep up to date with the search engines, your website will continue to serve you for many years.
At the workshops, we will teach you all the skills you need to build your own website and to keep improving it over the years. These include:
choosing the best design for your business
creating content that is attractive to your website visitors
learning the techniques you need to build your website
and setting up the site so it is easily understood by Search Engines like Google.
We give you an introduction to Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) so you know what needs to be done to get your website up the rankings.
At Preparing To Publish, our goal is to have your website up and running just 4 weeks after you attend the first workshop. If you work with us and stay with the agreed plan then this will become a reality. You will have a website you can be proud of - and you will have built it yourself! Isn't that worth a few weeks of determined work?
There are many advantages that the Website Workshop system has over the traditional way of building websites. So what are they?
Normally, it is up to you to come up with all the content;
The cost of a new, modern website is usually measured in the thousands of euro;
And also, when you want to make changes or additions to the site, you may have to go back to the developers and spend more money.
At our workshops,
we help you to gather and create the content that will turn your visitors into customers;
we get you up and running with a modern website for a remarkably low price;
and the biggest bonus is that you will be able to keep developing your site - at no extra cost - into the future because you will have learned the skills needed to do so.
